Weird weather evening! Allie & Melissa from Pembroke High drove through a rainstorm coming down Rt. 3 for their senior session.  It wasn’t raining yet at Scusset, and it was actually pretty nice but some ominous-looking clouds were on the horizon. The wind picked up a bit, and the sun kept peeking out from the cloud bank, then it got really dark – then the clouds moved away to give us a glimpse of the sun setting. Then it started raining just as we were finishing up.  Portrait sessions at the beach are always an adventure!

These two girls had such beautiful color eyes and the overcast skies actually bring the color out more than a sunny day does!

Here’s a few of my faves of Allie:allie_h_106allie_h_104

The sun was setting here, casting a beautiful glow …allie_h_123

And here’s Melissa!

I traveled to Justin’s family cottage in Popponesset for a 2-for-1 senior portrait session  with his friend Tadhg.  They all come from way up in Georgetown, MA but spend a lot of the summer at the Cape.  Despite Tropical Storm Bill passing offshore the night shore, the weather was beautiful.  The surf was still pretty high and I actually went into the water to get the angle I wanted and was hit by a huge wave that pretty much soaked my pants. Camera was OK, though!  And the water was surprisingly warm – though I’m used to the Scusset and Sagamore Beach water, where there’s always ice cubes floating in it.  ;)

So here’s a couple of my favorites of Justin:justin_c_111

we made some use of Sunfish hanging out on the beach:justin_c_118Here’s Tadhg (an old Irish name, pronounced “Tige”):

It almost looked like this session wasn’t going to happen, but we started a bit early to stay ahead of Tropical Storm Bill (which blew through later that night and Cape Cod barely noticed.)   Guess what beach this is?  Samantha lives out smack in the middle of Massachusetts, but has spent time in the summer at her Grandmother’s house in Sandwich for all of her life.

The fog actually started rolling in and with the sun heavily hid by haze, the conditions made for some soft ethereal light.  Which is nice because it made Samantha’s eyes all the more bluer.  Here’s some of my faves from the session:

Carol Lundeen: Cassandra, congratulations on such beautiful work, and thank you for taking on more active roles in our professional associations.

A different location for me – Onset Beach!  Shelly requested this location – and I was more than happy to oblige as I love going someplace different for a change.  We had beautiful soft lighting which suited her perfectly.  Shelly’s been a fan of mine on Facebook for quite a while and this session was a long time coming – especially after being rescheduled twice!   Besides sand & water, this beach has some interesting and colorful places to shoot  in.  I’d love to go back there again – any takers?
Shelly brought perfect clothing colors, too! Here’s just a few of my ‘thousands’ of favorites:shelly_g_128

Michael came down from Taunton for his senior pictures.  His mom brought a book and read on the beach while me and Mike walked around making pictures.  He’s pretty laid back and it was a lot of fun photographing him!  Here’s a few from his session:michael_m_104

If it’s not beach-goers, it’s seagulls wandering into my images.  Just another day at the beach!

I love the colors in this one – could the sky BE any BLUER?!:michael_m_110

Kelly from Plymouth South

August 23, 2009

Another repeat customer!  I photographed Kelly’s sister Alex a couple of years ago and now it’s Kelly’s turn.  You can definitely tell they’re sisters!  Kelly plays both volleyball and basketball for South – here’s hoping for a great season!kelly_n_101

This is my absolute favorite color combo – green and purple. kelly_n_117

and this is  my new favorite crop size:  10×20 – sort of a panoramic – but it really suits this pose and image well.  kelly_n_127

I just love the color of Kelly’s top here – it is so perfect for the beach blue and green colors.  kelly_n_142

Kelly’s eyes are absolutely amazing in this image.  I really liked this image in black and white, but I loved the color of her eyes in this one, too – so selective color it is!   kelly_n_112

Kelsey is on the Student Council at Carver High School.  We had a bit of a breeze, but it blew her hair just perfectly in my opinion.  I am putting together her preview gallery right now and these are my favorites – I love the choice of clothing she brought – so colorful!  dsc_9435kelsey_k_121

I love her red sweater with the sand.  And look at her eyes!  Just gorgeous.kelsey_k_118kelsey_k_132kelsey_k_138

Maritza from Hopkinton

August 22, 2009

Maritza and her mom made the trek down 495 from Hopkinton for high school  senior pictures at the beach.  Maritza is of both Italian and Spanish heritage – I love her name and had never heard of it before,  so I googled what it meant – and found that it means ‘of the sea‘.  How fitting that she came to the beach!  Here’s her sneak peek!maritza_g_105maritza_g_121maritza_g_111maritza_g_134maritza_g_146

I love repeat customers! I photographed Maryne’s brothers’ for their senior portraits a few years ago and Maryne had come along to get into a few pics with her brothers.  Now it was Maryne’s turn for her senior portraits and her brothers managed to make it to the beach for a few pics with her. Kudo’s to mom for being able to make that happen!  But Maryne was the star of this show with her gorgeous blonde hair and beautiful smile.  Here’s a few of my favorites:

Shaylynn came down from Auburn to the beach for her senior pictures.  Shaylynn wants to be a hair stylist, but is going to go to college for Business first. Smart girl!  We had beautiful soft light as the sun was mostly behind clouds, but broke through a few times  Here’s a sneak peek of her session:dsc_8453shaylynn_b_118shaylynn_b_137shaylynn_b_128shaylynn_b_122
