Brewster Gardens in downtown Plymouth is where I met Brittany for her senior portrait session.  The park is a nice change of pace after photographing at the beach every night.  Brittany plays basketball for Sacred Heart and and helps out at the family business in Manomet.  The school photographer takes the yearbook pictures for Sacred Heart, so these images are for giving out to family and friends.  Here’s a few images from her ‘walk in the park’ session:

I love the cute shoes!

Here’s Shayla – from Londonderry, NH. She spends a good part of the summer on Cape Cod and wanted her senior pictures on the beach.  We had a great day – we’ve really lucked out on the weather this summer!  Shayla is going to college to be a dentist.  She reminds me a bit of Cindy Crawford – don’t you think? Here’s a few of my favorites!

We had some fun after the sun went down and created a spectacular sky!

Last week I traveled to Truro on a breezy (okay really really windy) evening to photograph this fun family celebrating their parents’ 45th wedding anniversary.  Their bright pastel colors were my first clue that this was going to be fun.  Then they showed me around the funky-artsy house on a cliff they were renting for the week.  It was a photographer’s dream- I could spend all day there shooting!  They loved the house too and wanted to show it off in their images. I thought that was a great idea since I knew the beach would be windy. Then they said, “Oh, we don’t care about the wind“.  It was all about celebrating Frank and Pat’s anniversary and showing the love this family has for their parents and each other and their Cape Cod vacation. And drinking chocolate wine…

Backyard Family Portrait

July 17, 2010

I traveled to this family’s home in Holbrook last week. I photographed Michaelia’s Senior Portraits a couple of years ago and now their very first Family Portrait!  I loved the light in the pool/deck area and we decided to stay there instead of traveling to another outdoor location. I was oh-so-tempted to jump right in their pool afterwards since it was so hot!  I just love this family – they’re so fun and good-looking too!  Here’s a sneak peek of their images:

The kids wanted to do a ‘fun’ one – I tried to convince them to jump in the pool, but they went for this one instead:I also photographed Frankie in his cool First Communion suit – here is ready for the cover of GQ…

The day you’ve been waiting for is just about here! I had the privilege to photograph a great group of seniors last year – I wish you all the best in anything and everything you do!

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.
You’re on your own.
And you know what you know.
You are the guy who’ll decide where to go.

So long, Troy Brown

September 26, 2008

My favorite Patriots player, Troy Brown, announced his retirement after playing for 15 seasons for the Patriots – the only NFL team he ever played for. I knew it was coming, and glad the rumors about him signing with the Jets didn’t come true (although they could have, but he said that it wouldn’t feel right wearing ‘green & white’.)

I was at the game where he set the Patriots records for receptions (557), and still proudly wear my #80 jersey during Pats games.

I think what endeared me to him was the commercials he did for United Way – remember the “Bingo! I got Bingo!” commercial?
He wasn’t a huge superstar – he was classy and humble and hard-working. It was fun watching him playing both offense, defense, and special teams – something almost unheard of in the NFL. His contribution played a big part in the Patriots’ Super Bowl wins. He epitomizes what I love about the Patriots franchise.

So long, Troy – thanks for the rings and thanks for the memories.

Certified!

June 4, 2008
I recently received word from the Professional Photographers of America that I am now a Certified Professional Photographer!. To earn this certification, I first had to pass a 100-question written exam on the technical aspects of photography – lighting, lens and camera choice, processing images, color theory, and things like that. Then I had to submit 20 of my images from real customers’ portrait sessions for review by a panel of judges made up of Professional Photographers. (Click Here to view the image gallery I submitted – maybe one of the images is you!)
With this certification, and my continuing commitment to furthering my photographic education through professional workshops, conventions, and competitions, you can be assured that your important memories will be recorded by a professional photographer committed to excellence!

marigirl: congrats on getting certified!! I checked out your blog because we're the only two people on blogger whose interests include "mojitos and margaritas" together. who know!? :) Love your photos!!

I attended the Professional Photographers of Mass. convention last weekend. I entered some prints in the competition, and I’m happy to say I was awarded a blue ribbon for my print of Andrea, a high school senior I photographed last summer:And Red ribbons for:
Dina – a senior at Silver Lake HS…
And of course I had to enter a flower:
I was also awarded a red ribbon for a folio of images from Megan’s senior portrait session last summer!

Lunar Eclipse

February 21, 2008

I braved the cold last night and went outside to view the eclipse. The weather people predicted it was going to be partly cloudy, but I saw crystal-clear skies – so that was a pleasant surprise. Of course I had to take pictures…I promised my 6yr old nephew in NH I would. It was so cold my fingers were numb (can’t operate a camera with gloves on.)
The moon is particularly interesting to me, probably because my Zodiac sign (Cancer) is “ruled” by the moon. But for everyone, according to one astrology site, this lunar eclipse is calling on us to “put aside worry and fear and embrace our faith….it is wise to review past patterns and seek mentorship with those we trust as we move through our daily lives.” Sounds like good advice!
